Thursday Thirteen: Reading Material I Found on My Coffee Table

January 25, 2007 at 9:50 pm (Books of Interest, Thursday Thirteen)

If you can’t figure this one out, I can’t help you 🙂

1.  One Man’s Love by Karen Ranney.  I read a good review of one of Karen’s other books on Mrs. Giggles.  Couldn’t find that book, but picked up this lead story in her “Lords of the Highlands” series instead.  She is a great author and now on my “must buy” list.

2.  “Why Do Men Fall Asleep After Sex” by Mark Leyner and Billy Goldberg, M.D.  All those questions you’d like to ask a doctor, but are too embarrassed to do so.

3.  “Queen Bees and Wannabes” by Rosalind Wiseman.  Wow.  Scary stuff…but it totally rings true.

4.  May 2006, National Geographic.  The cover story is “In Search of Vikings”.  Could this possibly be research?

5. “Looking Good: A Comprehensive Guide to Wardrobe Planning, Color & Personal Style Development.”  by Nancy Nix-Rice.   I’d like to be a woman who didn’t need help looking good, but I’m not.

6. “Founding Brothers” by Joseph J. Ellis.  It’s just darn interesting stuff.

7.  “Secrets of The Cube: The Ancient Visualization Game That Reveals Your True Self”  by Annie Gottlieb and Slobodan D. Pesic.  See earlier post.

8.  January 2007, Romance Writers Report.

9. “The Phantom of the Opera” by Gaston LeRoux

10.  “Prince of Ice” by Emma Holly.  Great book.  Great writer.

11.  The Grinnell Magazine.  Gotta see if I’m keeping up with my successful classmates.

12.  January 2007, Wired.  Cover story is “Beyond the Body: the Science of Human Enhancement”.  Love this mag.

13.  “A Three Dimensional Victorian Doll House”.  Okay, technically not reading material…but it folds up into a book 🙂

Thursday Thirteen: Things I like about a Bad Boy!

January 18, 2007 at 6:41 pm (Sexy Men, Thursday Thirteen)

I need to preface this list.  I’m writing a sexy short story right now…I mean not at this exact moment, but it’s minimized and waiting for me to get done with this Blog 🙂

The hero of this story is a bad boy.  Like seriously…your mother would not want you dating him.  Neither would your best friend.

He’s a carnival worker.  A carny.  Black T-shirts and tattoos.  Cigarettes and leering eyes.  Trust me, my hero is still delicious.

 On to the list:

1.  Salty skin, with a taste of dirt thrown in.  A bad boy works hard and plays hard.

2. Hair that should have been trimmed 2 months ago.  All the better to wrap around your fingers.

3.  Black T-shirts.

4.  He knows what to do with a your body.  Maybe even more than you.

5.  Motorcyles, muscle cars, and trucks.

6.  A scruffy face.  Whisker burned skin…the pain is irrevelant.

7.  Faded jeans on a tight ass.

8.  No friends to distract him from seduction.

9.  He’s not looking for his mother.

10.  He’s tough.  You can bite him and he just wants more.  Spanking?  That might be pushing it.

11. Tatoos.  Yes, they’re getting to be “everyday” , but they’re still sexy.

12.  Focused.  He wants one thing from you.

13.  Forever young…

Half Moon Rising set for March 27, 2007 release!!!

January 7, 2007 at 10:21 pm (Books of Interest, Margo Lukas Books)

Guess what?

My first book will be available as an e-book on March 27, 2007 at Samhain Publishing’s website.  The blurb for it is already up on the coming soon page.

I’ll try and post the cover here as soon as I have it.  This tech stuff feels a little over my head 🙂

Time for me go back to work on a new story I’ll be submitting to Samhain’s summer anthology.  This one is about a “girl-next-door” and the sexy carnival worker who rescues her from a malfunctioning ferris wheel…

Attempting Thursday Thirteen…

January 4, 2007 at 10:04 pm (About Margo, Things that are Fun)

…and all I got was a page of what I call gibberish…I think computer people call it “code”.  Ha!  Guess I’m out on my own.

Here’s my not-fancy, not-connected to anything Thursday Thirteen:

Thirteen Places I’d like to visit.

1.  The Northwest area of the USA.  I think I’d like the rain.

2. The Grand Canyon.  Hey, the most I’ve seen of the Grand Canyon was in that Brady Bunch episode.

3. Gerard Butler’s bed.  In my dreams…

4. London.  I spent a semester there in college.  I was a penniless student.  Now I’d like to spend my money on more than those coin-operated heaters that were all that stood between me and death by hypothermia.

5. Scotland and Ireland.  Can you believe I spent 4 months in England and never went to either???  I was an idiot.

6. New York City.  With my sister, I might add.  I think we’d have fun. 🙂

7. A strip club.  A male strip club.  I like a good body as much as the next woman.

8. Dollywood.  I bet it’s really clean.

9. Venice.  Have you ever read “Gaspard and Lisa on Vacation”?

10.  An all-inclusive spa.  A spa with lots of clean, fluffy white robes to wear.  Maybe a spa connected to an all-male stripper club.

11. Vermont.  Yeah, I know that’s not very exciting, but I bet everyone is friendly.

12. A river where I could reach down and scoop up gold with my bare hand.

13.  A Ford showroom.  Once there, I’d reach into my pocket, put a pile of gold dust in the dealer’s hand and drive off in my own red Shelby Mustang.

Off to watch Earl…
